The Fields at Arbor Glen & Lake Elmo Fire Department

The Fields Raises Funds for Lake Elmo Fire Department

On Wednesday, October 5th, The Fields at Arbor Glen – a 55+ active adult community – raised $2,000 to support their local fire department by hosting their annual Oktoberfest celebration.

This year, the event was designed as a “drive through” party, with a full take-home meal of grilled brats, potato salad, pretzels with cheese and apple strudel. Neighbors, family, and friends were able to listen to live polka music as they passed by the patio, and were greeted by several firefighters in the parking lot. Donations were optional and 100% of the money raised was given to the fire department.

“I am in awe of how generous people were this year,” said Margi Stanley, The Field’s Sales Specialist. “We surpassed our goal and were honored to present $2,000 to the fire department this year.” The money will go toward the purchase of a Rapid Deployment Craft, which will be used in water rescues. When asked why they put on this event every year, Jenny Terwedo, the property manager replied, “We take pride in being a positive part of our community and enjoy giving back where we can. We appreciate all that the fire department does for Lake Elmo and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to support them in this way. We are already looking forward to next year!”

With the help of staff from Arbor Glen Senior Living next door, 140 meals were served that evening. Dustin Kalis, Fire Chief, responded, “The Lake Elmo Fire Department truly appreciates the efforts and generosity of The Fields at Arbor Glen as they hosted another successful fundraiser for the department. The fire department is fortunate to have such a wonderful community supporting us. Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser.”

Residents of The Fields were able to enjoy a private Oktoberfest party inside the community with a full buffet of German-inspired food and drinks. They even wore customs and danced the polka while enjoying a beautiful fall evening together.
